Roy purchased one of Omega's refurbished desktop computers, we scanned his entire (270 page) typed manuscript and loaded the scanned documents onto his new computer. Next week will run optical character recognition software to convert the scans into editable text for the next stage in his project.

We showed Phillip the processes of resetting the iPad's passcode through the AppleID identification system. As Phillip didn't have all the necessary details to hand, we also explained how he could use Apple's iTunes software to 'factory reset' the iPad (on his laptop at home) in the worst case scenario.

Greta's laptop's loud buzzing was due to a failed hard drive unit. Data from the hard drive was unrecoverable but thankfully there was little of importance on the laptop. Volunteer PC Mike had sourced a replacement hard drive (£20) from the CEX shop in Shrewsbury and reinstalled her operating system so that Greta could leave with a fully-functional and happy computer that her daughter could take back to university.

James generated revenue by selling a collection of working smartphones and ordered parts and chargers to refurbish some of the partially-working handsets.

Roy had discussions with volunteer Brandon about his project and decided to invest in one of Omega's reconditioned desktop computers. Roy will be returning next week to collect the PC and we will look at some of the options of getting Roy's book off to a flying start.

I.T.Free volunteer James assisted Julia in creating an email distribution list for her Gmail account and her iPad Mail app. Following James' guidance, Jilly used copy and paste methods to create new versions of her old word-processing documents.
